Beijing is nice but it ain’t Noosa
We may have all been guilty of the ‘Olympic fever’ in the past couple of
weeks, where a trip to Beijing
via the remote control and the T.V has been enough of a sports fix to last
another four years. As the games wind down to a close, some of us may have been
contemplating something a little more vigorous – even dusting off the old
sweats and getting active! That’s what so great about the Olympics – covering
such a diversity of pursuits for every style of sportsperson. It got me thinking how lucky we actually are here in Noosa for the
lifestyle leisure opportunities we have available at our fingertips, in such a
small area. The NoosaRiver and waterways are
superb for the rowers, kayakers and sailors. We host the Noosa Tri on an annual
basis so our triathletes are in heaven for cycling, swimming and running. The
road cycling is superb year round. The Noosa aquatic centre is a renowned
training destination for swimmers, from the racers to the water polo players.
The hinterland is a perfect place for the equestrian lovers – in fact we are
home for more than a few Olympians of all sporting denominations who love the
lifestyle Noosa offers. If all of the above are a little too vigorous, a scenic
walk can be enjoyed within any of the National Park zones in our region.
Congratulations to all of the athletes, coaches, teams and family members who
have achieved the dream of making it to the Olympic Games. Your courage and
sportsmanship has been truly inspiring!
Til Next Week,
Olivier
