Sausage Sizzle Success

Sunday morning saw Laguna’s hardworking staff members give up their free time to assist the Red Cross volunteers at our annual sausage sizzle fundraiser. It was great to see the kids come along too, helping collect the donations and serve the hungry hordes – so our deepest thanks go to our staff who ‘parked and walked in at 5.30a.m’, the Red Cross volunteers, the generosity of the suppliers, and those of you who helped us consume more than 600 sausages, 34 loaves of bread, and 400 drinks. We managed to collect a total of $1,870 towards a cause that is always grateful for community support.

The morning started with a fair share of tumbles, the first aid kit came out on a couple of occasions under the skilled guidance of Janella Anderson.

If you are the fellow who took a spill off your bike in spectacular fashion, only to get up, get on, and keep going – we salute you!

For standing over a hot BBQ and cooking so many sausages to perfection (Paul, Denis, Henk and Peter), we award you the golden tongs!

“ Did you win??” asked the petrol station attendant of a young woman in the queue in full riding gear with a weary stance.

“ Yes I did!” she replied, “ I achieved what I wanted to achieve.”

So another year winds up with some aching joints and many personal triumphs on the day. We were glad to be a part of it and inspired by the courage of the competitors!

Till next week
